Public health law – medical law
Public health law brings together all the legal standards governing the activities of individuals and institutions charged with preventing disease and providing healthcare to people. In a narrower sense, when these laws are more specifically applied to define the legal framework of the activities of doctors, this is termed medical law. This field clearly includes various aspects of medical liability, but it also deals with patients’ rights (informed consent, access to medical files, professional confidentiality, etc.) and even, to a certain extent, the payment for healthcare by social insurance.
