Law of associations and foundations

In this field, the main role of an attorney is to draft statutes (the support of a notary is also required for the creation of a foundation), advise the management body (the committee of an association or the board of a foundation) on the legal aspects of its management and possibly to prepare a request for tax exemption. The rules pertaining to the creation of an association in Switzerland are liberal: inclusion in an official register, if one exists, is generally not compulsory and statutes can be short, although a few specific clauses are required. Foundations, by contrast, must appear in the register of commerce.
